Hello,
Is the JIRA Ultimate Role Tracking & Estimation add-on compatible with the WorkLog PRO Timesheets for JIRA add-on?
Does anyone have any experience trying to use those add-ons together?
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi Abhinav,
Thanks for performing this analysis!
We do have a strong need to perform Estimation & Time Tracking broken down by Role, so we will continue to use your Add-on.
The challenge that we are trying to solve for is providing better mechanisms for our users to easily enter Time Entries, especially those users who wait until the end of a timesheet period to enter time for all issues (instead of entering time as they work on an issue). To solve for those needs, we have been exploring Timesheet-based Time Entry (such as through WorkLog PRO or the Timesheet Reports and Gadgets for JIRA Add-on); however, all Add-ons that we have explored use their own customized Log Work screens, which bypass the ability to log work against a particular Role through your plug-in. Providing additional ways for users to log work against Roles or increasing compatibility with other Add-ons which provide helpful interfaces for logging work would help increase likelihood of users accurately tracking time, so that critical Estimation vs. Actual analyses will be more accurate.
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi Abhinav,
One clarification question I have, as I am providing feedback to other Add-on developers, is: In the implementation of the selection of Role on the Log Work screen for a user to enter Time Spent by Role, do you add the "Type of Work" field to the default Log Work screen in JIRA, or do you add a custom Log Work screen that replaces the default built-in Log Work screen?
Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
We have our custom Log Work screen, which replaces all the JIRA's default log work screens.
We also have a Log Work (By Roles) custom field, which again is a complete custom log work field, mimicking the default log work CF, but with addition "Type of work" option.
Thanks,
Abhinav.

Hi Adrian,
We tested out the WorkLog PRO plugin and noticed that it adds its own worklog capabilities along with their very customized interface.
If you log work with their interface, then tracking the remaining estimates by roles will fail. Our interface is still available there, so you can use that to log work.
Other features of our plugin, like assignees by roles and reporting still work unaffected.
You can use their plugin for logging work, and use our plugin's "Track Original Estimates Only" mode to control the overall original estimates of the issues based on the roles, no matter which interface/plugin you use for logging work. (Note: In this mode, remaining estimates of the issue won't be based on the roles, so you can't log worklog against roles). This mode will let you use other functionalities also unaffected.
If you still want to use our plugin with all its features, then please let us know, if their is any specific functionality in the Worklog PRO plugin, which you are looking for and want to make it compatible with worklog PRO/implement them. We can then, look into how we can help you more with that.
Thanks,
Abhinav.

Hi Abhinav,
Thanks for testing this! Have you had a chance to find any results?
Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
We will test our plugin out with the Worklog PRO and let you know soon.
Thanks,
Abhinav.
