Difference between date fields

I have two custom fields:

Call Received Date

Call Back Date

What would be the best way to find the difference between these two dates. Idea is to have a plugin that sets a read only field during issue closure.

That plugin is just getting better. We just solved http://bugs.kepler-rominfo.com/browse/KCF-2 (so we now have support for searches in a nice way).
