Does the PDF Exporter use Acrobat functionality to create PDFs?

We are trying to determine what version of Acrobat might be used to create PDFs. We are trying to see what may need to be done to support PDF tags and accessibility.

Is Adobe Acrobat part of this plugin?

I think Acrobat is not used at all. Instead the Flying Saucer PDF renderer is used: http://code.google.com/p/flying-saucer/
