With two pages Parent and Child, and a Child-Page macro in Parent with excerpts enabled...
Math-Inline and/or Math-Block macros which exist within the excerpt block of the Child page DO render when the Child page is viewed, but do not render as mathematical expressions when the Paren page is viewed. Instead, the codification (latext syntax) is shown on the Parent page.
I have screenshot examples if required....
Ok, I had been using the "Except include" macro, which seems to work properly. The children macro works differently, and apparently doesn't render the excerpt contents. This may be intentional in order to keep the excerpt on one line. You could ask Atlassian whether they will provide a fix, otherwise you can see if the "Excerpt include" macro fits your needs.
Are you, as a plugin developer, not better placed to raise this with Atlassian?

This issue is not specific to LaTeX Math. Indeed, you will see the same issue if you try to display any other macro or image in an excerpt. I suspect that this is by design, in order to ensure that the list of children pages can be shown neatly. If you want to display the entire excerpt, it appears that the Excerpt Include macro is designed for that. If you want to continue dialog about a potential alternate solution, I suggest that you send more details about what exactly you are trying to do (screenshots, etc.) to mail@tensixtwo.com.

The screenshots will be helpful, I just tried to reproduce this, but things worked as they should for me.
