Is it possible to export test specification data from Behave to XML or other basic format?

Hi David,

Behave has a range of Build tools (https://hindsighttesting.zendesk.com/forums/21683611-Test-Automation) and all these tools export the tests in the Gherkin format for Cucumber and related tools.

Is there a particular reason you are looking for XML?

Warm regards,

Alan

Thanks for the information. I don't necessarily need XML, but I just a quick and dirty way to export test data stored in Behave specifications to a format that can be used elsewhere. Copy and paste on the system clipboard would probably do the trick, but it would be good to know if a particular build tool is preferred. Are you sure that there isn't a more general extract/export function in the GUI?

Hey there, David.

As far as I know, the data from the Behave plugin is stored within the JIRA database itself according to the documentation (https://hindsighttesting.zendesk.com/entries/23416387-Backing-Up-and-Restoring-Data). I am not sure whether you are able to export specific data within the plugin separately. Perhaps you can also try to seek advice from the plugin vendor to see what they have to say about this?

  3. Email: atlassian@hindsightsoftware.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Warm regards,

Danial

Thanks. I am checking with Hindsight Software to see what information I can get from them.

The blurb in the Atlassian Marketplace implies Behave for JIRA can export tests, but all the documentation from Hindsight only indicates Behave Pro can generate an api key for the export to an IDE. I've also asked Hindsight support about this.
