How to have an insight custom field populate values automatically based on object?

Josh Costella March 7, 2018

With 5.4 of Insight, the ability to auto-populate an Insight custom field based on an object "appears" to be available but it is not clear as to how to configure this.

I have an object field and I need the additional insight custom field to populate all possible values based on the selection of the object field. I don't want the users to have to edit the second field. I'd like it to be completely automated.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Hi Josh!

This topic is covered in our documentation for the field at https://documentation.riada.se/insight/latest/insight-administrator-s-guide/insight-custom-fields/default-insight-custom-field

What you should look more into is the "Filter Assign Scope" and "Make Filter Assign Strict".

Basically, you will create an IQL that will filter out the objects to be automatically assigned.

If you feel like this answered your question, please mark it as accepted :)

Hi Alexander!

Link you have given is not working!

I am trying to populate insight field through issue class by assigning value to custom insight field like below. We are using Atlassian jira dll to save the value in jira

issue["Insight Service"]= "MyXYZ (XYZ-214)"

XYZ-214 is the key

But while saving to jira it is throwing an error "Can not save the changes".

Can you help?
