Is CERN Advanced Mail Handler compatible with JIRA 6?

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/plugin.jmhseems to be really useful - however it is listed as being only compatible with JIRA Versions 3.7 - 3.12.3. On the other hand, one of the replies to a rating states that it works with 4.0.

My question is: is it possible to update this plugin to run in a current version of JIRA?

I'm pretty sure it would not as even the most basic User API has vast changes between the versions you are talking about.
