Hi,
I have a requirement where a custom field is populated as a result of summation of other 2 custom field. Custom field 3 = Custom Field 1 + Custom field 2
I have come across calculated custom field option in Server JIRA.
Is there anything similar available in Cloud version as well?
Your help is highly appreciated!!
I have quite a few fields that could use this utility.
Kind Regards,
Sowjanya.
JMCF doesn't exist on Jira Cloud because Jira Cloud doesn't support the notion of calculated fields. We are working with Atlassian to lift that limitation, but it'll likely take a couple more years.
In the meantime, we will be releasing soon in JMWE for Jira Cloud a feature that will provide a workaround for this requirement. You'll be able to create a "listener" that will run one or more post-functions when certain fields of an issue are modified. In your case, you'd listen to changes to Custom Field 1 or Custom field 2, and then use a Set Field Value post-function to update Custom Field 3 (a regular Number custom field) with the sum of Custom Field 1 + Custom field 2.
Thank you very much for your response David!
Can I please be notified when this workaround is available?

The Event-based Actions in JMWE for Jira Cloud is now available and supports ways to deploy calculated fields - @sowjanya gondi Please see video here: https://www.innovalog.com/jira-blog/event-based-actions.
Hope this helps!
Thanks!!

Product Update (as mentioned above): As of early 2021, JMWE allows you to create fields whose value will be calculated from other fields. The Event-based Actions feature in JMWE for Jira Cloud is out. See example here: https://www.innovalog.com/jira-blog/event-based-actions.
