Is it possible to make a database custom field required on issue create

We are using Power Database Fields Pro. No issues with the plugin.  However, when I try to make one of these fields required on issue create in the workflow and leave it blank I do not get an error.  Is there something specific that needs to be done to make this field required as a part of issue create in the workflow?

@Todd Winton  Were you ever able to get this figured out. I have the same issue. Even requiring the field doesnt actaully require it when creating a Jira ticket. There support hasnt been helpful at all. They dont even know what a field configuration is. So its been challenging.

since making a custom field required isn't available out of the box, which app are you using to add your validator of interest?
