I have a task and 2 subtasks tied to it. The original task had the Original Estimate set to 2w 2d (as this is how long it will take to implement overall) and then each subtask was created and the original estimated for each of them was set to 1w 1d. However, the original estimate in the main task now shows 4w 4d in the time tracking area and throwing off the time remaining. It should should just be 2w 2d. The developer is updating the subtasks by changing the remaining estimate and time spent. How can i get the main task to reflect the original time of 2w 2d and subsequently show the correct remaining time.
By default in Jira, the original estimates of all subtasks sum up to show on the parent and similarly for the remaining estimates.
You don't need the original estimate on the parent, what you're seeing is it's doubling because you have it in the parent as well as the subtasks. If you just remove the estimate from the parent, it should all work as you're expecting.
