Hi,
I've two questions around projects for the OnDemand JIRA.
1) Is it possible to rename a project - and if so, would this alter the key in any existing issues?
2) Is it possible to clone/duplicate a project so that it's settings are carried to a new project (but not any existing issues).
Thanks
1) Rename, yes, but you can NOT change the KEY of a project. (e.g. if you have a project with a short code of "CAT" and a name of "It's about dogs", you can change the name to "It's about cats", but not the CAT key)
2) No. There are some plugins that do something like this, but you can't install plugins in OnDemand
1. you can rename project name but you can't alter project key so it won't effect any key in an existing issues
2. No, there is no option to clone/duplicate a project

Yes, it's a horrid manual kludge requiring significant downtime. To be avoided.
The answer there also misses out that you must lock your users out before exporting the xml, stop Jira to prevent any changes, and make sure you have a full backup before you touch anything, as one mistake could wipe everything (keep a copy of the xml export before you change it)
