Add members of AD security group to watchers

Id like to automatically add the members of an AD security group to watchers using jira automation. But the add watchers action only has a list of users. Is there anyway to pull these from the AD security groups ?

Hi Luke,

Sorry, but we don't support this. In order to add watchers to an issue, they have to be users that exist in Jira.  Jira's APIs don't support watching with anything else.

So these users do also exist in Jira. They exist in AD and in Jira. So would like to be able to simply use a security group to pull the users from and add them individually as watchers.

Did you ever get a solution for this? I know that the Autowatch add-on would support this, however I'm hoping personally to figure out a solution for this using either the Script Runner or JIRA Automation add-ons.
