Is it possible to automatically create a sub-task when a task is generated?

Hello Brian,

Thank you for reaching us.

It seems that you would like to create a sub-task when you have a specific epic linked in the task, right?

As mentioned by Iago, it is necessary to use the trigger ”When:Issue created”. Furthermore, I’ve built a rule below, based on the comments in this post:

create sub-task for an specific epic.png

I’ve assumed that you are using labels (for example “specific_epic”) for each epic for filter and apply the rule, for these epics. In case I've got it wrong, could you share more details, for example, how do you differentiate a specific epic?

Can you please give it a try with the rule above and let me know how it goes?

Cheers,

Cristiano

Upvote. I've just shown the way to further investigate but you're cutting to the chase :)

You should be able to see that option when you try to create a new action. Could you send screen captures of what you see when you try it?

In fact "create sub-tasks" is one of the options you can see in this screen capture the developers have in the market place for the app.

I see the same things like you. But I want it to be inside an Epic. So only if a task is created in a specific Epic.

So, if I understand correctly, you can create the subtasks without any problem but it creates a subtask for every issue you create in your Jira instance, not just within the epic you intend to do it.

I guess you should simply build a more comprehensive trigger, not just "When: Issue Created".
