Edit diagram that is "linked to origin" fails

F__Trautwein April 9, 2020

I have added an existing gliffy diagram into another page using the "link to origin" (so not as template/copy but a reference/pointer).

Now, that I have linked to the original diagram I have one and the same diagram shown on 2 different pages. Only the origin page contains the gliffy file in the attachements section. If I change the origin digram, the changes are reflected in the linked one alos. So far everything okay.

Now, if I edit the diagram in the _referenced_ page, the changes (new version) are stored in the origin gliffy attachement, BUT the changes do get visible only in the referenced page and not in the origin page! The origin page still shows the previous version (although "latest" is set in the settings section of the gliffy macro).

If I afterwards change the diagram again in the origin page the previous content (w/o changes) show up and therefore I overwrite the changes done in the referenced page beforehand. :-(

Is this a bug or feature?

Using the server version.

Hi.  Are you working in cloud or server?  I suspect there might be an issue with keeping the displayed version in synch with the page.  Please try to open and save the diagram on the original page (no actual changes necessary) to see if that brings the diagram on the source page up to date.

Using server version.

I did:

  • change the gliffy on the referenced page to create new version
  • open origin page --> changes are not visible (but available in the attachements section as new version)
  • open the gliffy on origin page and saved (w/o changing anything)

Result:

  • the changes in the referenced page are no showing up
  • another version was created in the attachements section
    • the new version seems to be displayed (that has overwritten the changes from the referenced page and therefore euqals with the "old" version)

So you would expect, that changes in the referenced page should also be "back-synced" and should get automatically visible in the origin page? Or is it a "one-way" mechanism?

Best
Florian

Why I am wondering: in the infobox besides the checkbox to create a reference to the origin diagram it says s.th like "changes in the original diagram will also get visible in the referenced diagram" - it does not explicitly say that it is also working it in the other direction.
