Greetings. Like all of you, I'm working from home with my small distributed team. I fired up Trello this morning and got an Atlassian message and no I did not know that they had bought Trello a while back. I see that I now have access to a host of Atlassian products apparently for free. Is it safe to assume that all the Jira apps I find are add-ons to the standard Jira software product? And that if I want that. I must still purchase it?
Hi Jim - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Atlassian is in the process of moving several apps/tools under the shared organization access so access can be administered in a single place instead of distributed.
There is still a free version of Trello available as well as many other free versions of the apps/tools now. Just follow the guidelines for how to install. But no, you should not have to purchase any free product.
One note - that's for the Cloud version - I am not sure how they are handling apps for Server.
Actually I already have the free version of Trello. What I was asking if the standard Jira software that everybody uses in their agile projects is free in this configuration or do I need to buy/license it?

There is a free version of Jira that is available now. :-)
Be sure to change the Calculator at the top from Standard to free to be able to access it.
Trello and Jira are totally separate products as such and are not co-mingled except for the ability to administer users to both from the same place.

Wow, awesome. Wasn't expecting that. So if I understand correctly, I wouldn't go into Trello and add Jira as an app. I set it up and use it separately. However, all those Jira add-ins would be added through Trello.

Correct - it is a separate setup. No, the Jira add-ins would be done with the Marketplace Apps site for Jira, not Trello.

OK, cool thanks. Very helpful. I consulted to a company for two years and they had their own homegrown Scrum software. So I got rusty on Jira. I discovered your tutorials so I'll be brushing up over there. Thanks much.
