Hello Atlassian,

Just wondering how can I trigger a notification (using the AUI popup) in JIRA when an issue is transitioned to In Progress and has no estimate?

I've tried editing my workflow.. no luck. I had also tried the "project automation" plugin and no luck as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Gill,

Do you  mean the flag that appears in the browser window top right by AUI popup?

If so, then that's not currently possible with Automation for Jira (or any other add-on that I know of).

You could use an Automation rule to send a Slack message or an e-mail though:

  • Trigger: Issue transitioned
  • JQL condition: status="In Progress" and originalEstimate is EMPTY
  • Send Slack message

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Are there any other ways to notify the user in JIRA and not outside?

Thanks for answering so promptly!

Hi Gill,

You can take a look at all our available actions: https://docs.codebarrel.io/automation/components/actions/actions.html

There's a couple of other notification actions (e.g. Twilio).  However there isn't really anything to notify a user within Jira.  If an automation rule performs an issue action such as issue transitioned, Jira will send its standard notifications (defined in Jira's notification schemes) via e-mail.

Beyond that I'm not sure.  There could be other add-ons available perhaps but I'm not aware of any off the top of my head.

Cheers,
Andreas

@andreas is it possible to have this when an issue is edited?

I tried trigger `Field value changed` and tried matching `originalEstimate` (because the field itself isn't available in the drop down list) but it doesn't workautomatino for jira field value change original estimate.png
