Is it possible to use Automation for Jira to create a new version in a project?

We have a case where we need to create versions in more than one project.

It would be awesome to be able to create the version only once, and have it appear in both projects, without needing to remember to do it twice.

I've noticed Automation for Jira has a 'version created' trigger, which is exactly what we'd be after. However, I can't see a 'create version' action... which I could have used with `{{version.name}}` to create a similar version in the other project.

Is this something that might be possible in the future? Alternatively, is there a way I can achieve this same thing in Jira another way? (using Jira Server 7.2.1 if that makes a difference).

Hi Tim,

What version of Automation for Jira are you running? We have a "Create Version" action which you should be able to see which will do what you're after.

Hi Simeon,

Thanks for the fast reply! That action is exactly what I was looking for, but it doesn't appear to be available for us. We're running Automation for Jira 3.14.0. There doesn't appear to be an update available (maybe our Jira server version is too old...) but I'll see if I can reinstall the addon in case that fixes it.

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim,

It looks like you're going to need to upgrade to get it to work. It was most likely released in a later point release. I noticed as well that your version of Jira is end of life too. I realise that isn't not the greatest answer, but you'll probably need to upgrade both!

Cheers,
Simeon.
