Rule to edit tickets created by automation is not running

Simon Weil June 27, 2019

Hi,

I have created a set of 2 rules:

1. A rule to create tickets every 90 days and add a label "created-by-automation"

2. A rule to edit all rules when created with the label "created-by-automation"

When clicking on run rule for the first rule, I see in the audit log of the second rule that it's not triggered for the tickets created by the first rule...

When I create a ticket manually the second rule is triggered.

How can this be fixed?

The reason for the second rule is that I have several rules to create tickets and the second rule updates many fields which I do not want to set again and again for all the tickets created automatically.

Hi Simon,

So for this to work, you need to tick the 'Allow rule trigger' checkbox in 'Rule details' of your second rule.

By default rules wont be executed by actions performed by other rules to prevent rule execution loops.

Ticking that box should fix this.

For more details on this, see https://docs.automationforjira.com/getting-started/concepts.html#editing-rules

Cheers,
Andreas
