We love how Jira provides an activity feed of who did what, but we'd like to know if we can preserve this functionality w/o requirng the developers to make their own status updates? In other words, at our daily standup, can the PM input the work logs, assignment updates, status changes, etc but do so as if the dev was the one actually making the update?
And it's important that there is an easy way to do this. Currently, the only way I know to do this is to log out and log in to each developer's account, but this is cumbersome and time consuming... on the otherhand, if we do it all from one login, we lose the value of the activity feed.
Thanks!
Austin
Hi Austin,
I'm sorry to say that JIRA monitors activity by user accounts, so as you have found the only way to generate activity from specific user accounts is to use that specific account to perform the tasks because at the moment there is no way of spoofing accounts in JIRA where somebody such as your PM Can perform tasks as another user. Therefore the only option at this stage is to use the developer's login account for the tasks that you want to see in the activity stream from that user.
All the best,
John
Ok, that is a bummer, but thanks for confirming. Is there a way to formally request this feature?
Austin
