This way we could use all benefits of Maven v.3 vs v.2 on which current AMPS is based on.
I gues we are talking about different things. I was asking about official SDK Maven v3 build environment and not support thing (where some things still doesn't work).

I am currently running ATLAS SDK Version: 4.2.9
and it still say
Apache Maven 2.1.0 (r755702; 2009-03-18 20:10:27+0100)
when I run atlas-mvn -version or atlas-version.

Yes your right they are not included on their SDK but they are supported to build plugin with maven 3
