Why do I get frequent connection / update issues with Big Picture

The UI 'hangs' with blank drop-downs and dialogues, and 'unstable connection' message pour out of the thing (there is nothing wrong with the internet connection 

nor access to Jira or other Atlassian product in our cloud instance).

 What is this all about? I am close to just binning it and going back to MSP. It's too unreliable and buggy for me based on my trial so far....
