Xray compatibility with JIRA 7.4 ?

Alain MEYNIER July 10, 2017

Hello,

anybody using Xray with latest JIRA version ?

I'm about to upgrade to JIRA 7.4 and the plugin check says Xray is not marqued compatible. I'm not so worried and I'm going to give it a try but if anybody here knows of any issue I'd be glad to hear about it.

Thanks !

Dear Alain,

Even if it is stated that support is only available for JIRA Server 7.0.0 - 7.3.8, this does not necessarily mean that this actually is the case.

Usually a plugin developer will test a plugin with the newest version of JIRA and most of the times the plugin will continue to work even in the new version of JIRA. In this case a developer purely checks the box 'Supported Version (X)'.

So regarding to Xray, it has not yet been tested on JIRA 7.4 yet it is a widely used add-on created by a very trusted vendor. JIRA 7.4 is also quite new, so it might take the vendor some time to process all the testing and possible fixes.

I think it is safe to declare that this vendor will still help you with  issues that you come across in general. Also on advice regarding to versions.

I have not been made aware of any issues lately with this plugin either.

Friendly Regards,

Jeremy Mooiman

Hi Alain,

Thank you for using Xray for JIRA.

Xray is still no compatible with JIRA 7.4 due to a bug in this version relative to remote links. The build of JIRA 7.4 had problems and were exporter without compatibility with plugins usings this feature. Since Xray use it, the current versions of XRAY are not usable in this particular JIRA version. Atlassian has commited to fix this in the upcomming JIRA 7.4.2 but we have also done some work and we now load this dependency dynamically, so, XRAY 2.3 will be compatible with JIRA 7.4. All others Xray versions no.

Also, for such a sensible matter we advise you to contact us in our support portal :  http://jira.xpand-addons.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/

Best regards,

Hi guys,

just to let you guys be aware that Xray v2.3.0 onwards is compatible with JIRA 7.4.

I would advise you to install the latest JIRA version to make sure you have the latest fixes from Atlassian, including the one referred above.

Hello,

thanks for the comment.

Yes I updated to Xray v2.3.0 this morning and everything works like a charm.

It was fine with the previous version too, not problem noticed.

Alain.
