Read-only fields become blank once "Update" button is clicked in Edit Screen

May I ask if this is the behavior of the read-only field?

I have 2 fields which are set as Read-only in Srciptrunner (Behaviour).

One is mandatory (Field01) and the other is optional (Field02).

About "Field01", when I click the "Update" button, error occurs saying that "Field01 is required" even though it has value.

On trying "Field02", when I click the "Update" button, there is no error but its value becomes blank.

There are no other behaviors in clearing fields so I would like to know why this happens for read-only fields. Do you have recommendation on its workaround?
