ShowContainer gets delayed when I set value of field

I hope I can write this in a way that it makes sense... here is what I have:

I have a smart dropdown advanced. When a value is selected from this dropdown, I want to set the value of a field that resides inside a container to the one from the dropdown, this works perfectly with a rule I setup. Now this container, will show or hide depending on a check box. 

The problem I am having is that if I have a rule defined where when a value is selected on the smart dropdown, I set the value of this field that resides inside the container then the "show" of the container when I click on the check box is delayed. In some cases I have to uncheck the box, and then check it again to make the container show. 

Has anyone ever come across this behavior?
