Upgrading from 6.4.5 to 7 breaks the charts on dashboard

Rather an interesting problem after upgrade to JIRA 7.2.9 from

6.4.5 -> 7.0.0 ->7.0.11->7.10->7.2.0->7.2.9

with charting plugin version upgraded from 1.33 -> 2.3.0

It appears all the pie charts in the dashboards are failing with "filter not found.."

The filter does exist with the necessary perms for the user viewing the dashboard.

The charts can be reset now in 7.2.9 with the same filters and they work fine.

Has anybody experienced this?
