Using AM Utils validator on a custom field

I downloaded this plug-in to introduce a work flow transition validator that would prevent an moving an issue to a specific status, if one of the open links is marked as "blocks". This worked exactly how I expected...thank you very much.

I am wanting to use the same type of validator on a custom field that I created using another plugin called "issue picker". Is it possible to replicate the same type of behavior using the JQL Validator? Any pointers you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
