In our case, placing the Google Analytics code in the Confluence administration console is not an option, as we have multiple spaces, each with their own brand, that are tracked as separate sites.
I have created user macros with the GA code for each of these sites and placed the macros in the headers.
The Zen Brand Designer includes a "specialty" option to add a GA tracking code in the brand. I am wondering if this is a better option, but cannot find any documentation on its use.
I have had reports that the GA tracking on sites with these user macros seems to not be recording new information - so I'm looking for better options.
When I last looked, Zen disabled the standard Confluence Admin | Look & Feel | Custom HTML | At the end of the HEAD functionality, but should still retain the At the end of the BODY. Try pasting the standard Google Analytics code there instead.
