What are the best ways to use ScriptRunner to create reports?

All of the available Jira plugins for reporting use Filters. Unfortunately, filters are broken and have been for years.

• Sub-Tasks don't appear making per-user capacity estimates impossible
• Epic Names don't appear making Epic Progress evals impossible

As a result, we need to use ScriptRunner to get the data out of Jira, but this then creates a new problem- How do we get that data someplace useful?
