Summary:

  1. We have:
    • Jira system (Cloud) + XRay installed
    • Jenkins for CI/CD to run Automation Test
    • Automation testing with Robot-framework.
  2. We already did:
    • Integrated Jira - XRay - Jenkins by using "Jira RestApi" & "Xray for Jira Jenkins Plugin"
    • Successfully Imported Robot-framework reports to "Test Execution" of XRay
  3. Normal Scenarios
    • The Automation Testing on Jenkins daily and import the Test Result to Xray.
  4. Specific Scenarios
    • In our project, products (application) might have multiple release version by time to time
    • Also, there might have some specific time that we need to perform the test within request or any updates in Hardware/Computers/Infrastructure
  5. Question
    • We don't want to create too many Test Execution issue in 1 "Test issue", so we provide "Project Key", "Test Plan key" and static "Test Execution key" in "Import XRay Result" step on Jenkins jobs.
    • Our need like:
      • Create static "Test" and "Test Executions" for each Test
      • Test Executions might have multiple child node/issue (sub-test execution) that will track for <daily run>, <product release run>, <hardware upgrade run>
      • The results of each specific type of run will depend on some tags (GIT tags or release tags) to know which sub-test execution need to import result to (<Daily run> will import to 1 static sub-execution, <release/upgrade run> will create new sub-execution for each releases/upgrades version).
    • Currently we see that only "Test Execution" in Xray for Jira Jenkins Plugin" >> So is there anyways or available functions or any suggest solution that we could do for above scenarios?
