Does anyone have any experience with the plugin? How did it effect database performance, slowness, space issues when QA group used the fields for data, test results, executions
Hi KP11,
Zephyr here. I don't have an exact ratio to give you to consider when anticipating the size impact of adding Zephyr for JIRA, but I can state a few generalizations which will help you get your head around it.
1. Testcases are basic JIRA issues. So here you're adding issues to your JIRA database. If you have lots of test steps per testcase, your instance is going to perform like you have a lot of custom fields on each testcase.
2. Execution schedules are AO entities. They are very light and don't relicate the data footpint of the testcases contained within them. We only add a handful of fields here. So if you have a single Execution schedule of 10 testcases, it isn't an additional 10 testcase load on your database. It is a much smaller footprint.
3. The impact of the test schedules also varies abit. Do you have attachements like screen shots on the scheduled executions, do you have links for defects? These add weight to the executions like an attachement or issue link would in any other location of your database.
One item of note: Zephyr creates a seperate database inside JIRA, it doesn't use the same database. So a savy person could monitor this database size to exactly determine what sort of impact Zephyr for JIRA is having.
Kind Regards,
Chris
Thanks Chris. For item #3, we will have attachments, screen shots, scripts for executions. Does the attachments on Test Execeutions and Details get stored in the Zephyr database? If so, can we assign into to a specific drive on the server? Any way to add additional space on the fly? Where(path) how(Jira location) and what kind of database is Zephyr using? Jira & Confluence in same VM server.
One more question. We do not want external customers using Tech Support project to see the TESTS pulldown. How do we prevent certain users/projects from using the TESTS pulldown? We specified only 1 project for Zephyr so why does TESTS pulldown show on main dashboard?
