Re: Timeline for standard edition

If you're not turning on the new navigation for your site on April 14, 2025, then your site will get the navigation mid-April to late-April 2025.

  • For admins on the Standard edition/plan, we'll remove the option to turn off the navigation for everyone.
  • However, your users can still turn on/off the new navigation only for themselves till May 2025.

We're currently working on the enablement material and we'll keep you updated when they're available.

@Shawn Stevens You can choose to turn on the new navigation for your site on April 14, 2025. If you choose to not turn on the new navigation for your site on April 14, 2025, your site will get the new  navigation in July 2025.

@Varsha Patel

We are now past beginning-April and getting close to Mid-April, but I don't see the new UI for even the Free edition, not to mention for our standard version.

We get enabled the "New content layout BETA" in Confluence Free and Standard Free, but this feature looks like relocation of some page information and nothing like the big new UI.

What about your published roadmap here?
All dates seem to me to be more like a “maybe” than when it will actually happen.

Re: New navigation on Free and Standard plan

  • For the Free plan, you should be able to see the new navigation now. If that's not the case, then please let us know.
  • For the Standard plan, you'll be able to opt in on April 14, 2025. If you choose not to opt in on April 14, 2025, then your site will get the new navigation in mid-April to mid-May 2025.

The published roadmap on this page is subject to change, and we’ll provide more accurate details as the dates approach. Please check the public roadmap for the latest updates and more information on the new navigation.

Hope this helps!

Re: Two questions concerning the new navigation:

When will we be able to sign in for ourselves as an option to swap to the new navigation? We as System Admins and some users we think, it would make sense, would like to change for ourselves directly, not in June, when enterprise customers are in charge.

1. You'll be able to opt in to the new navigation for yourselves on April 14, 2025.

2. You may see some differences between Jira and Confluence’s customization experiences, and this is temporary. We’re currently working on Confluence to make these experiences consistent. So you'll see the same customization experience in Confluence (as you see in Jira).

@Varsha Patel , It's April 14th, and I don't yet see the labs to turn it on for our sandbox or production environment. Am I not looking at the right place, or has it not yet been released?

Just for my understanding:

- After turning on the Jira labs, would the experience be enabled for all relevant Atlassian products as well? Or do they have a separate toggle somewhere to turn the experience on?

- I am currently assuming that when I turn on the option in Jira labs in my sandbox, it would only be enabled for Sandbox, right?

@Hans Polder I agree.
I finally have the new nav. available on my test Free plan.

Unfortunately as communicated being available by the 14th of April in Standard plan also, is not the case.
I still do miss it there as well.

As noted in this recent post: The new navigation opt-in is now available - it appears that it can take 3 days before it's available to opt-in in all sites.

@Hans Polder _Devoteam_ Wait till the end of this week as we've begun the rollout on April 14, 2025 (5:45 p.m. PST) and may take up to 3 days for the new navigation to reach all sites.

@Varsha Patel

Why wasn’t this three-day rollout communicated ahead of time? Why wasn’t the start time of the rollout communicated ahead of time?

You told us, clearly and in multiple locations, that the feature would be available on April 14th. That creates an expectation: we come into work on that day ready to turn it on, announce it to our teams, and support internal testing. Instead, the rollout didn’t even begin until 5:45 p.m. PST—after the business day was over for many of us, and now we’re told it may take up to three days to appear?

We communicated Atlassian’s timeline to our users in good faith, only to be left looking unprepared and uninformed when nothing was available. I had a VP reach out at the end of the day asking why we hadn’t enabled the “new Jira thing” like we said we would. That reflects poorly on us—not because of anything we did, but because the information we were relying on wasn’t accurate.

To make matters worse, this specific article, which we were told to monitor for updates, was never updated. The only update was posted in a different article. That update wasn’t even published until April 15th, after the promised April 14th availability had already passed.

This kind of communication breakdown makes it incredibly difficult to plan. If you're going to give customers a date, it needs to be accurate. And if there’s a change, it needs to be communicated clearly, in a timely manner, and in the place you told us to monitor.

Please take this feedback seriously. These are not small details—they affect real people, doing real work, who are trying to support change responsibly across their organizations.

Where is it available? Not here.

I have 3 environments, with different plans (both prod or sandbox). And in none of them do I have the option to enable the feature.

Hi @Gregg Brown

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're really sorry about the frustration and inconvenience caused by our unclear communication around new navigation rollout timelines.
We understand that you and your team were prepared to enable and announce the feature on April 14th, based on the timelines we provided. It was never our intention to leave you feeling unprepared or uninformed, and I am truly sorry for the impact this has had on your team and your reputation within your organisation.

We progressively roll out to 100% over a number of days to ensure that we safely enable it to everyone as quickly as possible, and catch any issues before they have a widespread impact. Our rollout timeline communications mentioned the start date of the rollout period as we didn't want to catch any users off-guard, however we recognise that this created confusion for users who haven't yet received the changes.

Moving forward, we will indicate any staggered rollouts with their start and end dates, so everyone working on change management for new features will be aware of the possible landing times for the feature. We'll make sure that if there are any changes to these dates, they will reflected in a timely manner in a centralised location to avoid any confusion.

We really appreciate all your efforts in trying to support changes across your organisation, and recognise how disruptive things like this can be. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, and please feel free to reach out if you have any further concerns or suggestions.

Warm regards,
Aditi

Hi @Varsha Patel and Atlassian team. Thank you for letting us know about this thread for the current phase, as mentioned in your comment from the previous EPA phase thread. Over the past few days, in the EPA thread, there has been a lot of valid feedback regarding the implications of this change. Much of the feedback is opposed to this change.

Our org tried it and opted out.

However, according to the implementation plan, we are likely to be affected within the standard plan timeframe

That being said, when I clicked on Assets, this is what happened:

  • I was taken to a new Tab
  • The new nav is there.
  • To navigate back to Jira Service Management (by clicking the link), a new tab opens.

2025-04-22_15-56-07.pngWHY?!

Assets already felt unintegrated; this design adds to that feeling, making it even less integrated from the platform.

Hi @Varsha Patel
we have voted for the ticket [JRACLOUD-92066] Custom logo briefly overlaps during page transitions in Jira navigation in new navigation - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

The custom logo overlaps during page transitions. As there is a completely new experience for our users with the new navigation, my question: Do you really want to start with a bug like this or better work fast to not all users see this bug during their first sessions? When can we expect to get rid of this bug?

@community, please feel welcome to vote and bring a better experience to our users, please.

Kind regards,
Martina
