Join our research study: Seeking participants to help us improve Atlassian’s navigation

📌 This research study has been concluded and we won't be accepting anymore participants.

Thank you for participating and helping us identify key usability and workflow challenges with the new navigation.

We’re exploring how the new navigation is impacting real-world teams, and we’d love your insights.

While we’ve seen strong quantitative success (like low opt-out rates and solid usage), we want to dig deeper into how the experience feels and functions in your day-to-day workflows. We’re opening up a research study for users and admins who have used the new navigation for at least two weeks.

What’s the purpose?

This study is designed to uncover the key usability and workflow challenges in the new navigation. Through interviews and screen sharing sessions, we’ll observe how real users get work done — what’s smooth, what’s frustrating, and where they’re getting stuck. These insights will help us prioritize the most critical improvements before we roll out changes more broadly or invest in larger platform updates. Our goal is to fix what matters most, first.

What’s involved?

  • We’ll conduct an hour-long session (with video and screen share). You can participate from anywhere.

  • In this session, you’ll walk us through your experience using your own site and data with the new navigation.

  • As a token of appreciation for your time, we’ll send you an e-gift card worth $100 USD for this session.

Note: We may not be able to interview everyone who signs up. We’ll select participants who best represent a diverse mix of roles, product usage, and team environments. Gift cards will only be provided to participants who are selected and complete the research session.

Who are we looking for?

Admins and users who:

  • Have been using the new navigation for at least 2 weeks

  • Have been using Atlassian products/apps for at least 12 months

  • Use any of the following products:

    • Jira

    • Jira Service Management

    • Confluence

    • Atlassian Home

  • Are comfortable with video, audio, and screen sharing with their own sites and real-time data

While we encourage everyone to sign up so we can learn from you, we’re especially interested in:

  • Enterprise or Premium admins and power users

  • End-users affected by the navigation change

If you believe you’re a good fit for this research study, please sign up to be considered for a session.

If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this post. We look forward to hearing about your experience.

Cheers,
The Atlassian navigation team

I am happy to see this proactive step taken by Atlassian. I was also a bit surprised at how detailed the initial survey was but hopefully that allows you to select the most promising prospects for the interviews.

as someone who wasn't eligible to join the survey as I hadn't switched the new nav on at that time I'm really disappointed in the lack of updates/feedback to the wider community - Atlassian have gone incredibly quiet on the subject which feels wrong given we're fast approaching the time that the new nav will be forced on all users with no chance for opt out.

@Varsha Patel are you able to share anything?

Hi @Varsha Patel one piece of feedback to share - we've begun using the "Roadmaps" as our main source of cross-team/department reporting, so I and the the consumers of the reports are in there frequently. However, we are not able to favorite or display individual roadmaps or roadmap views in the nav. For anyone wanting to see a specific roadmap it takes 3 clicks. It would be powerful to be able to favorite roadmaps/roadmap views to get them in a single click.

Where did you find this focus group, lost in a cornfield or just a bunch of coat racks with googly eyes?
