At the recent Team '25 event in Anaheim, Atlassian CEO and co-founder Mike Cannon-Brooks and Anu Bharadwaj (Atlassian's Chief Technology Officer), revealed the company's vision for the future of teamwork, showcasing groundbreaking innovations designed to help organizations unleash their full potential.
The keynote unveiled Atlassian's ambitious strategy to transform how teams collaborate, align, and deliver results in an AI-driven world.
With millions of users across more than 200 countries relying on Atlassian's technology, the company is doubling down on its mission to “help unleash the potential of every team” through its expanding system of work.
I recommend to use right-click to stay ahead. So let's dive in!
Beta Program — Rovo Dev Agents
[00:09] The Atlassian Cloud Platform: Foundation for Connected Teamwork
Atlassian's cloud platform has undergone a radical transformation, moving away from siloed products toward an interconnected ecosystem. Unlike the data center model where information remains trapped within individual applications, the cloud architecture liberates data through the “teamwork graph” – an intelligent data store that enables seamless information sharing across all Atlassian apps.
This redesigned platform features three key layers:
Enterprise-grade infrastructure with enhanced security, performance improvements up to 55%, and expanded compliance certifications
The teamwork graph, connecting over 10 billion objects with more than 40 billion connections
Platform apps providing consistent experiences across the entire Atlassian portfolio
To meet diverse customer needs, Atlassian announced two new deployment options alongside its commercial cloud:
Atlassian Government Cloud for US government customers, meeting FedRAMP Moderate requirements
Atlassian Isolated Cloud (coming in 2026), offering single-tenant infrastructure for organizations requiring additional isolation
[07:56] Rovo: AI at the Center of Teamwork
Perhaps the most significant announcement was Atlassian's commitment to making AI an essential team member through Rovo, its AI assistant that now boasts over one million monthly users. Rovo has been re-architected into three distinct applications:
Search App: Enhanced with over 50 data connectors (including new ones for Data Center products), the search app delivers significantly more relevant results with AI-generated knowledge cards that summarize information across platforms.
Chat App: Going beyond simple conversations, the chat app can take actions like creating documents and setting up meetings. A standout new feature is “Deep Research,” [21:12] which analyzes an organization's knowledge base to answer complex questions with detailed, evidence-based reports.
Studio App: A new building environment that allows teams to create custom agents and automations, connecting workflows across applications to eliminate repetitive tasks. [26:16]
In a move that drew enthusiastic applause, Cannon-Brooks announced that Rovo will now be included at no additional cost with all paid Atlassian subscriptions, including Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management. For non-Atlassian users, Rovo will be available for just $5 per user per month. [24:50]
[26:16] The Teamwork Collection: Core Collaboration for All Teams
To help organizations build a common language for teamwork, Atlassian introduced the Teamwork Collection – a bundle of Jira, Confluence, and Loom, starting at $15 per user. This collection addresses core challenges teams face:
Unclear goals and priorities
Lack of visibility across teams
Meeting overload
Information silos
The keynote showcased how these integrated tools work together. For example, the Vitafleet marketing team used a Confluence whiteboard to collaborate with Rovo's brainstorm agent, developing new campaign ideas after a budget cut. The AI agent tapped into the teamwork graph to recommend alternatives based on previous campaigns, budgets, and team knowledge.
[46:00] Strategy Collection for Leadership Teams
Anu Bharadwaj, Atlassian's Chief Technology Officer, demonstrated specialized tools for leadership teams, introducing the Strategy Collection, featuring:
Focus (now generally available): A strategic planning hub that transforms static annual plans into living artifacts
Talent: A new workforce planning application that provides visibility into team allocations
Jira Align: Now included with the Strategy Collection at no additional cost for existing customers
[56:34] Product Teams and Jira Product Discovery
For product teams, Jira Product Discovery (JPD) connects customer insights to product decisions with AI. The new Rovo Feedback Agent analyzes support tickets and automatically groups them into themes, creating structured ideas with customer evidence attached. The JPD “Ship Your Idea” contest was also announced, with the most upvoted idea to be prioritized for an upcoming Atlassian hackathon.
[59:29] Development Teams and Rovo Dev Agents
For development teams, Rovo Dev Agents eliminate friction by enriching tasks with required context, transforming Jira tickets into working code, and automating code reviews – improving Pull request (PR) cycle times by 45% in Atlassian's internal implementation. These agents seamlessly fit into existing workflows, including Bitbucket and GitHub.
[1:03:43] Service Teams and Customer Service Management
For service teams, Jira Service Management (JSM) now includes AI sentiment analysis for prioritizing urgent requests, AI insights for measuring ROI, enhanced asset management capabilities, and new HR service management templates. The keynote also introduced Atlassian Customer Service Management, a new application that bridges the gap between customer support and development teams, featuring an embeddable Rovo chat widget, automatic case creation, and seamless handoffs between teams.
[1:16:50] Customer Spotlight: Domino's Pizza Enterprise Group
The keynote concluded with Brian Duffy, Chief Revenue Officer, interviewing Mattias Hansen, CTO of Domino's Pizza Enterprise Group, who shared how standardizing on the Atlassian platform has helped deliver on their motto of “every order counts.” Domino's has extended Atlassian usage from technical teams to business teams, managing everything from store operations to legal contracts on a single platform.
[1:27:27] Conclusion: The System of Work in Action
As Mike Cannon-Brooks summarized, the three key takeaways from Team '25 are:
Rovo is a powerful AI assistant now included with existing subscriptions
The Teamwork Collection provides a common language for all teams
The Strategy Collection helps leaders drive their system of work by connecting goals, talent, and resources
The vision is clear – Atlassian is building a comprehensive system of work to connect teams, accelerate business outcomes, and deliver on its mission of unleashing the potential of every team.
