Hello world! (I hope you appreciated that developer pun, don’t worry I have more coming) I’m the Product Manager for Code Planner and wanted to jump on to tell you more about it, why you should test it out, and how to make the most of it.
Let’s dive in! Are you a developer, engineering manager, or IT admin looking to enhance your team's productivity and streamline your development process? Meet Code Planner, a cutting-edge Rovo Dev Agent designed to revolutionize how you approach coding tasks.
Code Planner brings in relevant context from Jira and Confluence, then generates a coding plan for your work item. By integrating seamlessly with your existing workflow, it allows you to focus on high-value tasks while it handles the routine planning.
Have you ever picked up a Jira work item and didn’t know where to start? Maybe you're new to your company, recently changed teams, or you’re working in a new project? Trying to figure out what you should be working on in a big repo can be daunting. Sometimes, it feels like you’re searching for a missing semicolon in a sea of code! Code Planner can help give you the confidence to get started and guide you to complete your task.
If you haven't signed up yet, join the Rovo Dev Agents beta. Then request access to Code Planner (currently in closed beta). Our team will review your request and enable the agent for selected users—no need to fork your workflow!
To maximize the benefits of Code Planner, enable automatic coding plans for your Jira projects. This feature ensures that every new coding-related work item automatically receives a coding plan, so you can spend less time debugging your process and more time shipping great code.
Go to Atlassian Administration.
Select your organization where Rovo Dev Agents is installed.
Find Rovo Dev Agents in the product list, select More actions (…), then Manage agents.
Under Code Planner, select Enable Code Planner on projects.
Use the toggle in the Automatic coding plans column to enable plans for your projects.
Even if automatic plans are not enabled, you can still create coding plans manually.
In the world of software development, the principle of "garbage in, garbage out" holds true. The more detailed information you provide in your Jira ticket, the better the Code Planner’s output will be. Think of it as feeding your codebase with premium fuel for optimal performance. To ensure our automatic coding plans run smoothly, make sure to link your repositories to your Jira projects with Code Planner enabled. Additionally, including your repository URL in the Jira issue description will help the Code Planner agent to automatically generate a coding plan that is both accurate and tailored to your needs.
I’m excited to see you all test out Code Planner and share your experiences. Comment below with any feedback, feature ideas, or questions. Your partnership is invaluable as we work together to enhance this agent and create something truly innovative—let’s squash some bugs and ship great features together!
Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
