Does Rovo Chat automatically mask or redact sensitive data such as PCI (credit card) information entered into chat? If not, is there any way to enable masking or redaction for sensitive data in Rovo Chat?
Hi everyone,
Thank you for raising this important topic. I wanted to let you know that we have created a feature request for masking or redacting sensitive data in Rovo Chat. You can track and vote for this request here:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ROVO-354
If this functionality is important to you or your organization, please visit the ticket to add your support and follow any updates.
Thanks!
Hi @f_safaeikarimabad and welcome to the Community
Guard Premium is able to detect sensitive data in Atlassian products but I doubt that that's integrated with Rovo yet. interesting question though.
I believe this is a relevant feature request that, combined with a custom site-specific "system" prompt (in order to control accepted use), will really improve governance aspects of Rovo.

Thanks, Rebekka.
To test, I provided some sensitive data (not a real number :) ), but it was not masked. When I asked for the sensitive data I had entered in the chat, it was returned to me!!!

Yes that's the expected behaviour with the current functionality.
I have not found any feature request for this. @Jensen Fleming I know you are busy at Team, but maybe you could create a JAC Ticket for this?
@f_safaeikarimabad could you provide some more context to your requirement so the Rovo Product team has a little more to work with?
Thanks!

Thanks for following up on this, @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_
I was thinking that Rovo Chat should automatically detect and mask sensitive data (PII, PCI, etc.) to prevent accidental exposure and ensure compliance.
Key requirements:
- Real-time detection and masking of common sensitive patterns
- Prevent storage/retrieval of sensitive data in chat history
This would enable organizations to safely use Rovo while maintaining data governance standards.

There you go. Add your thoughts to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ROVO-354 and vote for it. I'll do the same :)
Would be great if you could accept my answer as well as Praveen's.

I don't think it can.
Have you tried asking Rovo if it can? Might not be able to redact the traditional way but might be able to replace sensitive data with xxxxx or something?

Yes, I tried, but it did not mask the sensitive data. When I asked for the sensitive data that I had provided in the chat, it returned it to me!!!
