Cannot see any local branches in submodule

In one of my repositories I cannot see any local branches in my main submodule. I can do a git branch -l on the command line to see multiple branches locally, but the Sourcetree GUI shows none and has no twirly arrow next to "BRANCHES" in the sidebar. Using Sourcetree 3.4.18 on Windows 11.

I have no idea what I did to fix this problem. I posted this almost a year ago. I think I uninstalled Source Tree and re-installed and now on version 3.4.22
