Recently my company upgraded to Bitbucket Server v7.5.1. In our previous version, we could view whitespace characters which included the ability to see tabs/spaces, etc. Tabs looked like little arrows. Now with this version, we cannot see this anymore. Showing whitespace characters seems to be an option still but visually you cannot see these characters in the diff.
