How to track an ignored file and commit it as modified file?

Parthiban Sekar April 3, 2020

Hello,

I have had a filed marked as ignore in my gitignore as below.

solution/database/script.sql

Now when I make some changes and commit them against that file as given, it is showing up as entirely new file. So, the question is how I can push it as a modified file with only the changes I made as highlighted as it usually happens for other tracked files?

Hi!

  • exclude in gitignore
  • do changes
  • do commit
  • and return back the gitignore file changes
