Can you explain why Sourcetree crashes on startup after I tried to associate a local repo to it?

I installed Sourcetree, tried to connect it to a local repo, and it hard crashed. And now whenever I start it, it just crashes out. The program will not run.

I am really not impressed.

Better switch to Fork

Identical to SourceTree but in active development, unlike SourceTree, which is not being actively maintained since 2021...

This has been a long running issue with us. The workaround is to go to the applications directory - typically C:\users\<your id>\appdata\Local\Atlassian. You'll find a SourceTree folder there. Keep that one. But remove the  SourceTree_Url... folders. You'll likely need re-clone any repositories you had beforehand but at least SourceTree should start.
