Git Submodule not visible in sourcetree UI

I have added a git submodule to my project, but the "Submodules" does not appear in the menu bar on the left, which means there is no way to track changes. Is this something to needs to be manually enabled?

The issue was because I hadn't commited the change with the .gitmodules file
