There has been a bug related to authenticating to BitBucket via SourceTree for a while. I believe the bug is expected(?) I assume it is on your radar.
However, the behavior depicted below is dangerous and unacceptable. I left my Laptop on over the weekend due to some unforeseen circumstances. When I came back, SourceTree had hijacked all of my RAM (32GB!) and CPU by initiating hundreds of BitBucket logon prompts. My fan was going at it and the laptop was running hot, all because of these BitBucket logon prompts.
I am not the only on experiencing this, please advice

Hello! This is probably an issue with the git-credential-manager for windows. Could help me with some more details?
In the meantime, try upgrading your version of the git-credential-manager for windows or download a newer version of git which bundles the credential manager.
Thanks!

Thank you Mike Corsaro,
I was able to fix this issue by updating my GIT to a version that bundles the credential manager.
