I have been using Sourcetree on Windows 10 for some months now, and with each version it keeps getting slower and slower.
I have tried it on two deifferent machines both on Windows 10, and the slowness is the same on both (so I believe it's not related to one machine, but to Windows 10).
When I have been using it on Windows 7 (on much slower computer than the one I'm using now) it worked OK, without slowness.
Does anyone have a similar problem?
Is there a plan to have a better support for Windows 10 in Sourcetree?
the Beta of Version 2.0 is slowly too
Hey, nothing helped for my SourceTree :/
-All data/programs run on Samsung 850Pro SSD (Windows 10)
-Sourcetree tested with older and Latest
-tried the git settings core.preloadindex and so on..
-used internal /external git
-Made a clean installation of Sourcetree (no bookmarks...)
It stays slow, / is slow from init Installation.
SLOW =
-right click to popup menu
-clicking thou options menu / normal menus
-opening repo
-writing text
-everything
Im using Sourcetree over 2 years, but i guess since W10 it is so slooooowwly

This solved the issue for me:

Basically disable spell check for commit messages!

Ditto. Receding glacier slow. I, too, have come to the same guess/deduction about the bookmarks so I'm going to try backing up the bookmarks file, wiping out the bookmarks and see if my performance improves.
I've started using git extensions again because SourceTree is so painfully slow.

Same here, it's painful to switch tabs and even launch a commit now. 15-20 second waits for both actions

It takes about 15 seconds to switch between tabs (different repositories). I also have a lot of bookmarks.

Also seeing this.
I maintain about 30 different copies of various github repositories.
I think it is slow because SourceTree is scanning for updates to all of the repository in the bookmarks sidebar.
And that is somehow broken in the recent builds when running on Windows 10.
Please fix this. Or give an option to disable this.
I only care about the status if I have the bookmarked repository selected and showing in the right-hand pane. I'm happy to have this be stale or only refreshed once in the background when SourceTree opens.

Same here.
And it seems to slow the whole system down. The mouse pointer becomes incredibly slow and iTunes audio starts jumping.

Same here, latest version is just unusable. I downgraded to 1.7.0 and it works ok
