Have just updated to macOS Sierra, and now SourceTree will not see my Github keychain item when accessing repositories. I have checked the keychain item and it is there and has SourceTree permissions assigned. It asks me to type in the password repeatedly, but never completes.
I had a breakthrough with this: connect to your GitHub repository in the terminal and pull, commit or whatever you need to do. After doing this, SourceTree suddenly worked. I think the Terminal accessing the keychain somehow fixed it in Sierra.
Thank you for posting this. I was struggling with the same problem, and your workaround fixed it for me too.
