3rd Party New Relic Metrics BROKEN?

hi, just tried to link my status page to my new relic account using the REST API, noticed New Relic is on v2 of their rest api, and the url shown in the third party metric link is trying v1 api, could this be the issue?  or am i just doing something wrong?   I get an error, shown below, yes its the correct API key.

We either couldn’t validate your credentials, you don’t have any applications associated with the account information provided, or you entered the wrong type of API key. Check your information and try again.
