500 User limit (Audience-Based Pages)

I understand that there are different tiers for audience-based pages.  I want to understand what happens once you exceed the base 500 user limit? We only need 1 group for what we are wanting to build for our customers who have purchased our products. Does it automatically go up to another tier, increasing it to $500/month for tier 2 at 1000 users? 

Then, if we were to go up to tier 3 would that increase to 1500 users at $700/month? 

I am needing help to understand this logic of the audience-based pricing.
