We're on Jira 7.3.3. We also have Portfolio but it is currently not being used. I am one of four product owners who manage 60+ products. What is the best practice for managing multiple products that cross projects for cross functional teams?
We use JIRA 7.9 server. We do not have JIRA Portfolio (although it was evaluated previously).
I think you already licensed have the first product which you should try to use: JIRA Portfolio. It is designed to sit on top of JIRA to manage multiple products.
The only caveat I have about it (which is why we did not license it) is that it seems that its resource planning and what-if scenarios rely on the existence of JIRA issue estimates.
And, since we only estimate our work one sprint at a time, JIRA Portfolio would not help us. (Doing a complete, up-front SP estimate of all issues in a release smells too much like doing waterfall project estimates ;-)
