Hello, just an FYI in case I'm not the only one who runs into this issue...
I was going in circles trying to connect my Google calendar to the new planner feature, in my mac desktop app. I would go through the whole process of accepting all permissions (in the popup and my google account), but would always end up back at the original screen me asking to connect a calendar... with no calendar added. I checked to make sure the app was up to date, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried another google calendar, tried exiting beta and re-joining etc etc, but it still wouldn't connect.
However, when I switched to the web version to try the process again, it finally worked! So now I can see the calendar in my planner in both web and mac app. I checked the guide on how to set up planner and I didn't see any mention that the initial set up needs to be done in a browser, so I'm not sure if it's a bug or I just missed something reading the instructions.

Really sorry that you are having difficulty connecting using the desktop app. I just let our engineering team know. We will look into it asap.
I'm having that same issue, but using Chrome on the computer. I received the alert from Google that I gave Trello access, but Trello still doesn't show the calendar.
