Now that these features are rolling out, I'm getting a lot of questions about using automation with the inbox and planner.
Is there a timeline for when they will be included in workflow options?
Hey @Kelly Gabel! As far as I know, the team is still checking the possibility of supporting Automation with Inbox, but I’m unsure about the planner.
We’ve also raised a public feature suggestion for support Automation commands with the Inbox that users can visit, share their feedback, and vote for to show our team our users’ interest in this feature (I’m also one of the many interested in this as well!). You can access our public suggestion here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-1121.

Hi Kelly,
I'm from the Trello product team, and I'm curious if there are any use case trends that are driving the desire for Automation with Planner/Inbox.
Are there specific things that you hear people want to do (example: "create this card in my Inbox every Monday") or is it more general than that?
Best,
- Chris from Trello

Hi Chris,
Certainly, scheduled automations into the Inbox could be very be helpful. I'm thinking more along the lines of being able to automate moving things from the Inbox into a board, although I can understand the complexity there since automations are board-specific and the Inbox exists independently. Not sure if there would maybe be an application where it would look for a specific word in the card name, for example, to move it to the right board. Obviously something like labels would be simpler for the user, but obviously not for the developers LOL
I honestly think that what would be more impactful, would be the ability to use automation to move cards from boards onto the Planner. I know that many have asked about using Due Dates to automatically place cards on the Planner, but I'm thinking it would be more effective to be able to create a workflow to specify which cards should be moved based on their due date/time. I'm happy to chat about this more any time :)
Kelly
