I want to create an automation schedule on trello that is triggered by 9am and creates a card with details of work and also assigns them to an officer then does the same for a 2 hour interval every weekday

Hi @Bolarinwa 👋

That’s a great use case for Trello Automation (Butler) — and yes, it’s absolutely possible to set up a repeating schedule like that!

Here’s how you can do it step by step:

1️⃣ Open your board and go to:
Automation → Rules → Calendar → Create Command

2️⃣ Create a scheduled command
Use the “Every weekday at...” option and set it for 9:00 AM.
Then, add the actions you need, for example:

  • Create a new card titled something like “Daily Task - 9AM”
  • Add card details (description, checklist, labels, etc.)
  • Assign a member (e.g., your officer or team member)

Example command:

Every weekday at 9:00 am, create a new card titled “Morning Tasks” in list “To Do”, add member @OfficerName, and add checklist “Daily Work Items”.

3️⃣ For repeating every 2 hours
You can add more scheduled automations — for example:

  • One at 11:00 AM
  • One at 1:00 PM
  • One at 3:00 PM, etc.

Trello doesn’t currently allow dynamic repeating every X hours within one rule, so creating separate time-based commands is the easiest workaround.

If you have Trello Premium, you can use variables and more advanced conditions (like random member assignment or card templates) to make this even smarter.

Hope this helps you set up your schedule smoothly 🚀

Hi @Bolarinwa

This is possible with automation. Please check this documentation to get you started on how to create it:

Happy automation!
