Butler - define several triggers in one command (every day at 9:00 and 10:00 and .....)

Andreas Mayr July 15, 2021

Hi there!

I need a more specific scheduled option. The "every day" trigger gives me the possibility to perform an action only once a day.

So it would be very nice to be able to define more than one trigger for a command (this would be very helpful in various situations, not only for scheduled commands).

Example

Triggers:

  • every day at 9:00
  • every day at 10:00
  • every day at 11:00
  • ......
  • every day at 23:00

Action:

  • archive all cards in the List "List"

Currently, I would have to create tons of commands to be able to perform actions like this. Furthermore, if I would like to change something later (e.g. move cards instead of archive them), I would have to do the change in each command

Thanks in advance for your reply.

@Andreas Mayr if you wanted to run something every hour, you could use a due date instead and set the due date 1 hour ahead each time the command runs

@Iain Dooley

Firstly, thanks for your answer.

But how could I achieve this, if I want to archive all cards from a specific list every hour?

Would I have to set a due date on each card on that list?

Muss ich für jede Karte auf dieser Liste ein Fälligkeitsdatum festlegen?

@Andreas Mayr you can archive all cards in a list by name when a given card is due easily enough.

@Andreas Mayr oh actually sorry there's no "archive all cards in list x" action in the due date section. But what you can do is:

collect all cards in list X into a checklist

loop through each card and archive it

Here's an example:

Although looking at that now you'd also want to put a filter on that "the moment a card is due", so for example "the moment a card containing 'Archive Trigger' is due"

@Iain Dooley

Thank you very much for your precise explanation.

But I want to leave the due date and the cards as they are and only archive them.

Since there is no really suitable solution for me, I archive the cards as soon as they are on the list. So the list is always empty and when I have to bring a card back it appears on the empty list - not ideal, but not that bad.
